The recent incident, with the 12-year-old, allegedly took place within the county limits, Sunday morning.

Mazique was arrested early that afternoon, after the victim’s mother contacted law enforcement.

Medical results are pending on the victim, said Investigator Andy Yates of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.

In 1998, Mazique was also charged with the felony molestation of a 14-year-old. The charge was later reduced to a simple assault.

Because both victims were below the age of 16 the girls could not legally give their consent in the incident, Vess said.

&uot;Even if the girl says yes, it’s still no,&uot; Vess told Mazique.

On the earlier charge, Mazique was required to pay a fine. He was sentenced to six months in jail. This was suspended in exchange for two years of probation.

Mazique has also been served a warrant with the Natchez Police Department on charge of sexual battery. The incident involved an 18-year-old woman and happened Sept. 5.
