Despite three early turnovers and sloppy conditions, Centreville
Academy defeated upset-minded Wilkinson County Christian Academy
20-13 at Centreville’s homecoming game Friday night.
Neither team was able to do too much offensively because of
persistent heavy rain and a very sloppy field. Centreville had
167 total yards while WCCA had only 102 total yards.
The Rams could not stop Centreville’s Matthew Tolbert, who
had 22 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Rob Robertson led the Centreville defense with 11 tackles.
Rich Newman and Jamie Norsworthy had nine tackles each. Tolbert
and Jarrod Webb had eight tackles each.
Centreville improved to 5-3 overall and will play at Amite
School Center in Liberty next Friday. WCCA dropped to 1-7 overall.
