The Farmerville Farmers came back from a double-digit halftime deficit to defeat the Ferriday Trojans 20-14 in overtime Friday night at Ferriday.
&uot;It was a good game. It was a good game to watch and a good game to play,&uot; said Ferriday head coach James McFarland.
Ferriday scored two touchdowns in the second quarter on a one-yard run by Aron Thomas and a 13-yard pass from Thomas to Lawrence Washington to take a 14-0 halftime lead.
&uot;I think we played well. I know we played well,&uot; McFarland said. The Trojans had 348 yards of total offense.
However, Farmerville answered back with two touchdowns of their own, first on a one-yard run by Kenny Hollins and then on a 15-yard run by Vinson to tie the score at 14.
That score held up until overtime when Farmerville scored the winning touchdown on a 15-yard pass by Vinson.
&uot; They’ve got a good team. We stopped them from running the ball. We didn’t see much passing from them. We may see them again in the playoffs,&uot; McFarland said.
Cory Gordon had 23 carries for 107 yards. Washington had eight catches for 102 yards and one touchdown.
Ferriday dropped to 4-3 overall and will play at Block in Jonesville next Friday.
