Tensas upends Huntington

The Tensas Chiefs jumped out to a 24-0 halftime and never looked back as they defeated the Huntington Hounds 45-12 in a District 6A game Friday night.

Tensas racked up 344 yards of total offense, 215 yards rushing and 129 yards passing.

The Chief defense held Huntington’s offense to a mere 20 yards rushing and 168 total yards.

The Chiefs scored in the first quarter on a 24-yard run by Stanley Hazelton.

They then scored three times in the second quarter on a five-yard run by Hazelton, a fumble recovery in the end zone by Chad Gregory and a 34-yard field goal by Jim Sanderson.

Mead Hardwick scored on a 39-yard touchdown pass from David Crigler in the third quarter to make the score 31-0.

Huntington finally scored in the third quarter on an eight-yard run by Tom Terry Milliken.

Tensas then scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 69-yard run by Lee Hale and a 10-yard run by Malcolm Ward.

Huntington then scored on a 11-yard pass from Milliken to Todd Iverstine late in the fourth quarter.

Hazelton had 12 carries for 89 yards and Hale had two carries for 72 yards for the Chiefs.

Kenneth Clayton had six carries for 59 yards for Huntington, while Milliken had nine carries for 52 yards for the Hounds.

Tensas improved to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in district.

Huntington dropped to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in district and will host Pine Hills next Friday.
