Co-Lin to honor three Natchezians

The newest class selected to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Athletic Hall of Fame will has Natchez flavor as three Natchez natives will be honored during homecoming activities Saturday.
Iris Poole Eddy, who now lives in Melbourne, Fla., is being inducted for her accomplishments in basketball at Co-Lin in 1948-49, earning all-state honors there.
Eddy was an outstanding basketball player at Natchez High.
Alex Sandel will inducted for his accomplishments in 1970 and ’71.
Claude Porter will also be recognized for his football, baseball and basketball in 1948-49.
The alumni luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Henley Student Cafeteria.
Presentations will be made to the Alumni of the Year, Outstanding Instructors of the Year and the Outstanding Staff Member of the Year. Also to be recognized at the luncheon will be the Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, oldest alumnus attending and the alumnus traveling the farthest.
Alumni officers will be elected for 1999-2000.
Reunions for the classes of the 9s – 1929, 1939, 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979 and 1989 – will begin at 1 p.m. Also, reunions will be held at that time for all former Colettes and for the 1949 men’s state championship basketball team.
Pregame ceremonies featuring the presentation of the homcoming court and the crowning of the queen, will begin at 2:40 p.m.
Co-Lin’s Wolves and the Pearl River Wildcats will meet in Stone Stadium for a 3 p.m. contest.
Co-Lin is 4-3 on the season, defeating Itawamba 40-31 as Franklin County’s&160;Bobby Hunt returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown and Natchez High product Greg Carter caught a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Clarence Parker of Natchez led all receivers with five catches for 92 yards, while Marco Minor had two catches for 10 yards.
Parker has 28 receptions on the season for 410 yards and three touchdowns, while Minor has 17 catches for 153 yards.
Marcus Green of Natchez had nine tackles. Green is the Wolves’ top tackler on the season with 69 stops.
