Cathedral falls to Hinds AHS

In a Division 6-2A game Friday night, Hinds AHS scored on its first three possessions of the game and easily defeated Cathedral 48-14.
Hinds scored its three first-quarter touchdowns on a 31-yard pass from Arthur Robinson to Cedric Allen, a 22-yard pass from Robinson to Otis Harris and a 31-yard run by Harris.
Hinds scored twice in the second quarter on a 26-yard run by Curtis McGriggs and a 30-yard pass from Robinson to Odell Bradley to take a 35-0 halftime lead.
Hinds AHS had 410 total yards, 208 yards rushing and 202 yards passing, while its defense held the Green Wave to 235 total yards and forced four turnovers.
Hinds scored again in the third quarter on a 47-yard interception return by Bradley.
Cathedral finally got on the scoreboard late in the third quarter on a three-yard run by Stephen Edwards.
Hinds scored in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard run by Kentrel Kerry.
Cathedral scored with 11 seconds left on a six-yard pass from Edwards to Clay Hammonds.
JaMel Jackson added the two-point conversion.
Jackson had 23 carries for 131 yards, one catch for 29 yards and a 10-yard kickoff return.
Cathedral dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in district in its first year of competition after moving up from 1A.
The Green Wave host Bogue Chitto next Friday in their regular season finale.
Hinds AHS improved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in district.
The Bulldogs will face Wesson next Friday with the winner advancing to the playoffs as the second place team.
