Jefferson does it all in victory

Three by land and one by air. Ferriday High senior Cedric Jefferson returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, had TD runs of 31 and 7 yards, caught a 13-yard scoring pass from Aron Thomas and missed by seven yard of returning an interception 54 yards for a touchdown in the Trojans’ 57-16 win over McCall Friday.

&uot;I thought I scored a touchdown there, I was still tightrope walking (the sideline),&uot; Jefferson said.

Jefferson had six carries for 32 yards. He finished with four touchdowns.

&uot;It was an incredible night,&uot; Jefferson said.

For his efforts, Jefferson is The Natchez Democrat Player of the Week.

Other Trojans with outstanding efforts included Ferriday quarterback Aron Thomas, who was 12 of 17 passes for 328 yards with one interception.

Lawrence Washington finished the game with four catches for 125 yards. Corey Gordon rushed for 134 yards.

Vidalia High’s Dariel Mays had 114 yards on 13 carries and four touchdowns in the Vikings’ 57-6 win over Crowville. Quarterback Jarrett Hoffpauir completed 11 of 14 passes for 190 yards.

Cathedral’s JaMel Jackson had 23 carries for 131 yards in the Green Wave’s 48-14 loss to Hinds AHS.

ACCS senior Hayden Wadsworth had 58 yards rushing, 55 yards receiving and had three pass deflections on defense in the Rebels’ 29-13 loss to Simpson.

Casey McGehee led the defense with 16 tackles. Jason Rollins, Justin Thornton and Jay Hollowell each had 10 tackles.

Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s Bryce Crawford had nine tackles and an interception in the Rams’ 20-14 loss to Amite School Center.

Block’s Cliff Wilson scored a touchdown and had 13 tackles on defense in the Bears’ 12-6 win over Lake Providence.

Matthew Tolbert of Centreville ran for four touchdowns, all in the second quarter, to lead Centreville to a 49-40 win over Brookhaven. He had 19 carries for 202 yards.

Jason Wallace and John Anders of Pine Hills each had 11 tackles in the Wildcats’ 21-14 upset of Tri-County.

Tensas Academy’s David Crigler blocked a punt, tossed a touchdown pass in the Chiefs’ 27-14 win over Woodland Hills.
