Ferrell,wins; other races uneventful

Over half of all registered voters in Adams County turned out to elect county officials Tuesday.

Incumbent Sheriff Tommy Ferrell received another term in office Tuesday with a vote of 84.89 percent to 14.48 percent for Republican challenger Tommie Lee Jones.

&uot;I owe my victory to the professionalism of my office and the employees that I have,&uot; said Ferrell.&uot;I wouldn’t be anywhere without my employees.&uot;

Southeastern District Constable Danny L. Rollins celebrated his victory over opponent Ronald Foster at the Ramada Inn Hilltop. Rollins was re-elected by a margin of 85.93 percent to Foster’s 13.83 percent.

&uot;I appreciate my supporter’s confidence,&uot; he said, adding that his background of consistent service to the people of Adams County was the key to his victory.

&uot;If I didn’t do my job, I wouldn’t be here,&uot; Rollins said.

Unopposed candidates in other county races received the following votes out of 11,923 cast:

District Attorney in District 6 Ronnie Harper received 9,427 votes. County Attorney J. Barrett Martin received 9,078 votes. Chancery Clerk Tommy O’Beirne received 9,300 votes. Tax Assessor Reynolds Atkins received 9,218 votes. Tax Collector Verona Sanders received 9,381 votes. Supervisor in District 2 Virginia Salmon received 2,095 votes. Supervisor in District 3 Thomas &uot;Boo&uot; Campbell received 1,399 votes. Supervisor in District 4 Darryl V. Grennell received 1,715 votes. Constable in Northern District 1 Ray Brown received 2,585 votes. Constable in Southern District 3 Ronnie E. Wells received 3,390 votes. Justice Court Judge in Northern District 1 Mary Lee Toles received 2,635 votes. Justice Court Judge in Southern District 3 Charles Linden Vess received 3,395 votes. Justice Court Judge in Southeastern District 2 Danny Barber received 2,981 votes.
