Natchez boys advance to finals

Natchez High’s boys advanced to the finals of the Vicksburg-Warren Central Coac-Cola Classic with a 71-49 win over Warren Central Tuesday at Warren Central.
Natchez, which defeated Madison Central Monday, led 18-10 after one period of play and 37-23 at halftime.
David Haywood led the Bulldogs with 25 points, while Jamal Bouldin added 15.
&uot;This was the second straight night we were able to play 14 players,&uot; said Natchez coach Mike Martin. &uot;Our young kids are getting some experience against some good 5A teams.&uot;
Natchez will play the winner of Callaway-Vicksburg Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Vicksburg High gym.
Natchez High’s Lady Bulldogs lost to Tylertown 46-44.
Toni Logan led Natchez with 10 points. Tyson Booth paced Tylertown with 27 points.
Jefferson County’s teams both went down in defeat in the tournament.
The Tigers lost to McComb 72-68.
LaShod Ellis led McComb with 25 points.
Jefferson County was led by Antonio Smith with 16 points, while Devon Thompson and Jason Clark added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
The Lady Tigers were beaten by McComb 60-32.
Colette White led McComb with 15. Jefferson County was led by Shaquita Smith with nine.
n Monterey split two games with St. Joseph.
The Monterey boys defeated St. Joseph 56-54 in overtime.
Larry Jones led the Wolves with 17 points, while Heath Johnson added 13.
Alan Puckett scored 26 for St. Joseph.
St. Joseph’s girls defeated Monterey 64-38.
Mandy Leger led St. Joseph with 15 Monterey was led by Jan Paul with 13.
