Vidalia hosts East Beauregard

Vidalia High will host East Beauregard, while Ferriday visits Vinton in Class 2A first round playoff action Friday.

East Beauregard High is located near Lake Charles, La.

Both games kick off at 7 p.m. with a $5 admission.

Vidalia finished as the No. 4 team in power point ratings.

The Vikings, who are also ranked No. 4 in the Class 2A poll, finished the season 9-1 overall and 4-0 in District 3-2A.

East Beauregard, 6-4, finished fourth in District 6-2A, earning a wild card bid.

East Beauregard defeated South Beauregard 40-32, lost to Vinton 40-14, defeated Buckeye 32-20 and beat Pickering 34-18.

&uot;They are dangerous ball club,&uot; Faircloth said. ‘They are like a wounded animal. It ought to be a barnburner.&uot;

Vidalia finished its season Friday with a 16-0 win over Ferriday.

&uot;We feel good about that, but we have to put that behind us now,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;We have to quit patting ourselves on the back. It’s a new season. Everybody is 0-0.&uot;

The Vidalia-East Beauregard winner will meet the winner of the Westminister-Christian Life game.

Vinton, 6-3, finished second in East Beauregard’s district. They defeated Many 41-6 two weeks ago just before having an open date last week.

Vinton defeated East Beauregard 40-14.

The winner of the Ferriday-Vinton game will face the winner of the Homer-Many contest.

Vidalia defeated Delhi in the first round of the playoffs last year before losing at South Cameron in the second round.

Ferriday High did not make the playoffs in Class 3A last year.

The Trojans moved down to Class 2A this season into the same district with Vidalia.

Trojan coach James McFarland is in his first year as head coach after serving as an assistant coachthe past several years.
