VIDALIA, La. – Vidalia High junior quarterback Jarrett Hoffpauir said he heard talk that the Vikings were planning on airing it out Friday night against East Beauregard.

Hoffpauir found that to be true real quick when a pass play was called on Vidalia’s first play from scrimmage and resulted in a 35-yard TD&160;pass to Chris Kennedy.

&uot;I knew we could complete, it was just a matter of getting it over their heads and Chris made the catch,&uot; Hoffpauir said. &uot;I think that set the tone.&uot;

Hoffpauir completed 13 of 21 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings’ 47-14 win.

&uot;We knew they would be concentrating on stopping Dariel (Mays),&uot; Hoffpauir said. &uot;Coach had been saying we were going to put it up because their defensive backs were not very strong. With the receivers we have, it’s just a matter of putting it out there for them. And our line gave me all the time in the world to block.&uot;

Hoffpauir said he believes the Vikings sent a message with the win.

&uot;I think we earned a little respect,&uot; he said. &uot;They were big and physical, but I think this showed we can play with anybody.&uot;

And pass the ball as well.

&uot;That was exciting,&uot; he said. &uot;I loved it.&uot;
