The Cathedral Lady Green Wave varsity basketball team came up just short in its District 6-2A opener against St. Andrews, losing 49-46 in overtime Tuesday night at the Cathedral gym.

Betsi McGraw led Cathedral with 19 points and Vee Brice had 12 points.

Tori Singleton led St. Andrews with 23 points and Jessica Gillon had 14 points.

Cathedral dropped to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in district play. St. Andrews improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district play.

Cathedral’s boys held St. Andrews to two points in the second quarter, but fell in the end 40-32.

Cathedral trailed 12-11 at halftime.

Kevin Malphurg scored 22 of St. Andrews’ 40 points. Lanoxne Scott led Cathedral with 13.
