Thanksgiving Classic begins Tuesday

Brett Bergeron of Laplace, La., and Katie Kane of Baton Rouge, La., and Jeremy Mayfield of Shreveport, La., will be out to show why they are considered among the top young golfers in the south at the 1999 Gulf States PGA&160;Thanksgiving Classic to be held at Beau Pre Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bergeron, 16, received the Tommy Moore Player of the Year Award by the Gulf States PGA Junior Tour for his performance this year.
Kane, 17, was named Girls Player of the Year, while Mayfield, 14, is the Boys Player of the Year.
Bergeron, who competes in the boys 14-15 division, took first place honors in the Maxfli Junior PGA&160;Championship; Shreveport Junior Open and was the overall winner at the Alex Invitational.
Kane won the Canton Classic in the 14-15 division, Carr Haskins Memorial, Ray Hoskins Invitational and was second in the Maxfli Junior PGA Championship.
Mayfield, competing in 12-13, captured the Carr Haskins Memorial, Maxfli Junior PGA&160;Championship, Alex Invitational and the Shreveport Junior Open.
Their awards will be presented Tuesday at Beau Pre.
Golfers competing in the tournament from Natchez are Jonathan Halley, Lee Jones, and Jon King.
