Speech therapist Maria Smilo works with Matthew Smith to help him learn to speak. Smith and his twin sister, Morgan, have Usher’s Syndrome, a disease that causes progressive hearing loss. Cochlear implant have helped the twins begin to hear sounds, but now their family is fighting to get their insurance company to pay for the expensive procedures.
