A Natchez man was charged with aggravated assault Friday after allegedly exchanging fire with another Natchez resident&160;Thursday afternoon.
Kenneth R. Evans, 25, 105 Gayosa Ave., is being held with bond, pending arraignment. Police believe he shot Omari Cameron, 21, 173 St. Catherine St., in the chest.
&uot;We had interviewed witnesses and got enough probably cause to charge (Evans) with the shooting,&uot;&160;said Police Chief Willie Huff.
Police said Cameron was driving with two friends Thursday at the intersection of Pintard and East Oak streets where Evans was standing on the road. Witnesses said the two men fired shots at each other, Huff added.
Cameron and Evans had a fight several days prior to the shooting and police believe they were fighting over a girl, Huff said.
More arrests may be pending.
Cameron was treated and released from University Medical Center.
