Natchez easily beats Jim Hill

In the 1998-1999 season, the Natchez High Bulldogs took on Division 6-5A opponent Jim Hill three times. All three times they lost.
Perhaps revenge was on their mind as the Bulldogs easily defeated Jim Hill 72-48 Friday night in Jackson in a key district game.
&uot;This was our best outing on the road this season,&uot; Natchez head basketball coach Mike Martin said. &uot;Jim Hill beat us three times last year, including the (district) tournament, and they went to the final four.&uot;
The Bulldogs were led by David Haywood, who led all scorers with 24 points. Jamal Bouldin had 12 points and Vasshun Newborne had 11 points.
Trailing 13-12 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored Jim Hill 48-23 the next two quarters to take control of the game.
&uot;This was our best defensive game we played, especially in the third quarter when we outscored them 25-10,&uot; coach Martin said. &uot;This was a huge district win for us on the road.&uot;
Harold Martin led Jim Hill with 13 points and Korey Moore had 11 points.
The Bulldogs’ record improved to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in district. They will play at Forest Hill next Tuesday in district action.
The Lady Bulldogs were not as fortunate, however, losing to Jim Hill 57-50.
Camille Mason led Jim Hill with 18 points and Shalita Burns had 16 points.
Christin West led the Lady Bulldogs (3-4, 1-1) with 19 points and Angel Taylor had 16 points.
