St. Al defeats Cathedral soccer team

In soccer action Friday night, St. Aloysius scored two goals in the second half to defeat Cathedral 3-1.
&uot;We played a good St. Al team that is one of big rivals outside of our district,&uot; said Cathedral head soccer coach Paul Kettering.
After the Flashes took a 1-0 lead on a direct kick, Bryson Ogden scored on a penalty kick to tie the score at 1-1. The score remained that way at halftime.
After St. Al took a 2-1 lead in the second half, Cathedral had several chances to tie the game.
With just under 12 minutes left in regulation, Curtis Minor missed a game-tying kick by inches.
Then A. J. Stubbs had three chances late in the game to tie the score at two, but St. Al’s goalie stopped all of his shots.
With just under three minutes leaft in regualtion, St. Al scored its second goal of the second half to put the game out of reach.
&uot;Everybody played hard, but St. Al scored a couple of more goals than we did. They played well,&uot; coach Kettering said.
Cathedral dropped to 2-3 overall and will host Wesson in a district game next Monday at 6 p.m. St Aloysius improved to 4-2 overall.
