FERRIDAY, La. — Funeral arrangements for Kenneth Netherland, 46, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in Macon, are incomplete at Young’s Funeral Home.
Pauline Wilkinson Smith
July 10, 1922 — Dec. 12, 1999 MEADVILLE — Services for Pauline Wilkinson Smith, 77, of Meadville, who died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Franklin County Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith was born July 10, 1922, in Meadville, the daughter of Ed J. Wilkinson and Drucy Miller Wilkinson. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Meadville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Allen Smith; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Dennis R. Smith; two sons, D.P. Smith of Ridgeland and Robert A. Smith of Roxie; two daughters, Clara Williams and Sandra S. Wilson, both of Meadville; a brother, James Wilkinson of Jackson; a sister, Julia Lee Nordan of Cleveland; five grandhildren; and one great-grandchild.
Orbin Lee Oliver
June 25, 1932 — Dec. 12, 1999 MEADVILLE — Services for Orbin Lee Oliver, 67, of Roxie, who died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamburg Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Oliver was born June 25, 1932, in Bellmont, the son of Charles Oliver and Mary Clark Oliver. He was a retired oil field worker and a member of Hamburg Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Francis Aldridge Oliver; a son, Tommy Oliver; one sister; and one brother. Survivors include a son, Butch Oliver of Roxie; a daughter, Diane Lehman; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Richard A. Edgin Sr.
Oct. 6, 1922 — Dec. 11,1999 Services for Richard A. “Red”&160;Edgin Sr., 77, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in Natchez, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Laird Funeral Home with the Revs. Dan Wynn and Dan Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Mr. Edgin was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of William Shelton Edgin and Tina Anderson Edgin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Natchez and its Charlie Seale Sunday school class. He was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 75, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He owned and operated R.A. Edgin Construction Co. for a number of years. He was a charter member and past president of the Natchez Homebuilders Association and a past board member of the Association of General Contractors of Mississippi. He was also a past member of the board of the Natchez Housing Authority. Survivors include his wife, Sarah M. Edgin; one son and his wife, Richard A. Edgin Jr. and Brenda Edgin of Natchez; one daughter, Donna E. Wood of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Corbett Edgin, Collin Edgin, Richard Edgin III and Cassandre E. Ruley and husband Richard; and one brother, Dewey A. Edgin of Wichita Falls, Texas. Pallbearers will be Corbett Edgin, Collin Edgin, Richard Edgin III, Richard Ruley, Andy Sartin and Jake Middleton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Charlie Seale Sunday School class. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital in Shreveport, La., or the charity of one’s choice.
James William Simms
WISNER, La. — Services for James William “J.W.” Simms, 73, of Wisner, who died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, will be held at 11 a.m. today at South Central Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Eubanks and Virgil Harris officiating. Burial will be at the church’s cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Simms was a native and resident of Franklin Parish. He retired after 35 years with International Paper’s Natchez mill. He was a member of South Central Baptist Church and International Paper’s Quarter Century Club and served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy W. Simms; three sons and their wives, Manley Simms Sr., James L. and Linda Simms and Eugene and Rhonda Simms, all of Wisner; two grandchildren, Ashley Simms and Manley Simms Jr. and wife Lynn; one great-grandchild, Triston Simms; two brothers, Glenn Simms and Dale Simms, both of Wisner; one sister, Eloise Hughes of Harrisonburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Talmadge Rogerts, Keith Ferrington, Gerald Hughes, Kevin Cureington, Billy Cureington and Todd Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Jennings and Robbie Simms.
