Ten-year-old twins Sandy and Brandy Hall hope someday to follow in their mother’s footsteps. Right now they’re just staying about a foot behind her.

Sandy and Brandy are ballgirls for the Trinity Episocpal girls basketball team, which is coached by the mother, Melanie Hall.

&uot;Brandy started out wanting to do it and I’ve been kind of wanting to do it,&uot; Sandy said. &uot;My mom finally asked us to do it this year.&uot;

&uot;When mom was at ACCS&160;(last year), she had a water girl, so we didn’t get a chance to ask,&uot; Brandy said.

The twins are responsible for making sure the basketballs are accessible and getting water to the team.

&uot;We take the water bottles and fill team up at the fountain or in the concession stand,&uot; Sandy said. &uot;If the balls get wet, we have to move them.&uot;

&uot;When it’s a time out we have to give the girls water,&uot;&160;Brandy said.

Melanie Hall, who was an all-star performer for the Trinity girls team 10 years ago, was a junior high girls coach at ACCS last year.

&uot;One lady told us that her team could never beat Trinity because my mom was so good,&uot; Brandy said.

Both girls say they enjoy helping out with their mother’s team.

&uot;My mom smiles at us during the game when we get the bottles to the girls on time,&uot; Brandy said.

&uot;It’s a fun thing to do,&uot; Sandy said. &uot;Anybody would like it. The most important thing is to do what mom says. It’s really nice to be able to work with her.&uot;

The girls also enjoy the out of town trips.

&uot;She spends as much time with as as she can,&uot; Sandy said.

Both girls, who are in the fourth grade at Trinity, say they enjoy being twins. Sandy is older by an hour and 40 minutes.

&uot;The only bad thing is when people get us mixed up,&uot; Brandy said. &uot;It’s a little frustrating when they say, ‘You’re Sandy.’&uot;

When the girls are not learning their game from their mother, Melanie’s husband Terry is spending a lot of time shooting the hoops with his daughters.

&uot;Dad loves working with us,&uot; Sandy said.

&uot;He helps us a lot,&uot; Brandy said. &uot;We’ll play basketball and he’ll show us what we’re doing wrong.&uot;

Both girls are in their second year of AYA basketball.

&uot;I want to play until my heart doesn’t feel like it anymore,&uot; Sandy said.

And they both look forward to the day they can play for their mother.

&uot;She doesn’t have time right now, but we’re hoping next year she’ll be able to coach us,&uot; Sandy said.

After their playing days are over, both girls would like to coach.

&uot;I think it would be a lot of fun coaching your own team,&uot; Sandy said. &uot;It would be fun trying to get them to play like you want them to play.&uot;
