Bulldogs, Wave make All-district

Natchez High landed two players on the Division 6-5A team, while Cathedral High was represented by three players on the Division 6-2A squad.

Natchez senior linebacker/defensive back Don Jackson was named to the 6-5A first team, while Natchez High junior receiver Edwin Skipper was named to the second team.

&uot;I think those guys are well deserving,&uot; said Natchez coach Elbert &uot;Mo&uot; Lyles. &uot;When you don’t have a good record, you’re not going to get the kind of representation you would like.&uot;

Jackson totaled 196 tackles, while Skipper caught 24 passes for 652 yards and five touchdowns.

Cathedral High senior offensive lineman Luke Janette, freshman tailback JaMel Jackson and Green Wave senior linebacker Conor Gibson were named to the 6-2A team.

Janette helped pave the way for Jackson, who rushed for 1,114 yards.

Gibson totaled 49 solo tackles and 18 assists.

Named as honorable mention on the 6-5A team for Natchez were Natchez junior fullback Chris McDonald, junior quarterback Donald Butler, junior offensive lineman Leonard Campbell, senior offensive lineman Bilal Assabor, junior defensive lineman Israel Calvit, senior linebacker Justin Hutchins and sophomore defensive back Dennis Davis.

Cathedral senior Paul Barnett and junior Key Smith were named as honorable mentions on the 6-2A team.
