Leroy Claiborne

PORT GIBSON – Services for Leroy Claiborne, 89, of Port Gibson, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating.

Burial will be at the Ashland Baptist Church Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Mr. Claiborne was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Claiborne and Lucinda Wilson; and one daughter, Mary Ann Claiborne.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Claiborne of Port Gibson; nine sons, Willie Lee Claiborne of Kansas City, Kan., James Claiborne of Orlando, Fla. Henry Lee Claiborne, Willie Earl Claiborne, Tommy L. Claiborne, John Claiborne, Gilbert Claiborne, Robert Claiborne and Larry Claiborne, all of Port Gibson; eight daughters, Hattie L. Moore of Chicago, Julia Bennett of St. Louis, Lucinda Jones, Doris Claiborne, Donna Claiborne, Earnestine Thomas and Nancy Ann Thomas, all of Port Gibson, and Bessie M. Graise of Jackson; 43 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Willie Mae Dickey Moore

PATTISON – Services for Willie Mae Dickey Moore, 70, of Pattison, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Claiborne County Hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Whitehall Baptist Church with the Rev. J.P. Neal officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from noon until service time Thursday at the church.

She was a member of Whitehall Baptist Church.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Hampton and Lucille Dickey Hall; a son, Clyde Moore; and one grandson, Donnell Storks.

Survivors include her husband, John L. Moore of Pattison; two sons, Sylvester Moore and James Moore, both of Pattison; six daughters, Lou Mary Newsome of Port Gibson, Ethel Jean Moore, Jeanette Jones, Josie M. Claiborne, Mary J. Moore and Jacqueline Good, all of Pattison; two sisters, L.E. Patterson of Hazlehurst and Josie M. Ellis of Pattison; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Pearlie Davis of Port Gibson, LaBeatrice and Rufus Collins, both of Pattison, Willie T. Sapp of Fresno, Calif., lifetime employer and friend and Louise Porter of Port Gibson.

Estelle Walker Richardson

Jan. 4, 1926 – Dec. 14, 1999

Services for Estelle “Sally” Walker Richardson, 73, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Hines officiating.

Burial will be at the Skinner Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Richardson was born Jan. 4, 1926, the daughter of Sidney Walker and Katherine Butler.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son and wife, Floyd and Alberta Richardson Jr. of Natchez; two grandsons, Michael and Leah Richardson of Winnipeg, Canada and Floyd Richardson III of Monroe, La.; one granddaughter, Shunita Richardson of Rialto, Calif.; four great-grandsons; friend, Charlie Love of Natchez; three sisters, Lovie Jackson of Chicago, Bernice Hunt and Lottie Chandler of New York; cousins, Patricia Brown, Eugene Brown and Williams Brown of Detroit, Elizabeth Walker and Emily Walker of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.

MCCOMB – Services for Frances Storm Forrest, 71, of McComb, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 10 a.m. today at Catchings Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Dalton officiating.

Burial will be at the Hollywood Cemetery under the direction of Catchings Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Forrest was born Sept. 28, 1928, in McComb, the daughter of Fred and Rena Stapp Storm.

She was a retired seamstress at Holliday Cleaners and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in McComb.

Mrs. Forrest was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John David Forrest Sr. and one son, John David Forrest Jr.

Survivors include one daughter and husband, Barbara and Jim Finch of Romeo, Mich.; one son, David Forrest Sr. of Natchez; six grandchildren, David Forrest Jr. of Madison, Susan Howell of Utica, Mich., Rebecca Howell of Rochester, Mich., John Forrest of Madison; Eric Forrest of Madison and Justin Finch of Romeo, Mich.; friends, Dawn Wright of Madison, Barbara Storm of McComb and friends at First Assembly of God Church.

Services for Mrs. Louise Blackwell, 62, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999 at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Howard Peak officiating.

Burial will be at the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blackwell was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Wesson, the daughter of Louie and Martha Willena Smith Britt.

She was a Christian.

Survivors include her mother, Martha Willena Smith Britt of Natchez; four daughters, Peggy Lou Beckham of Memphis, Tenn., Lena Ann Boyles of Natchez, Mary Jeanene Fowler of Nashville, and Evelyn Renee Blackwell of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Alvin Ray Blackwell of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Yvonne Nosser and Sherrill McCurley, both of Natchez; four brothers, L.J. Britt of Natchez, Leroy Britt of Lake Charles, La., Billy Britt and Danny Britt, both of Natchez; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Kennedy, Shon Kennedy, Allen Blackwell, Randy Blackwell, Todd Blackwell and Ron Wilson.

Lillian Givens Carr

Oct. 17, 1926 – Dec. 17, 1999

Services for Lillian “Scrap” Givens Carr, 73, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton Marvel officiating.

Burial will be at the Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Carr was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Concordia Parish, La., the daughter of John and Evelyn Bloodsaw Givens.

She attended Brumfield School and received a practical nursing degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was assistant secretary of Zion Hill No. 2 Baptist Church, on the Mothers Board and a member of Lizzie Shumake Temple No. 1052.

Mrs. Carr was preceded in death her husband, Albert Carr Sr.; one son, Larry W. Carr; her parents and one sister, Reta B. Keener.

Survivors include one daughter and husband Betty Joyce and Milton Morris of Natchez; three sons, David and Gloria Taylors Sr., Ray E. Carr Sr. of Natchez and Albert Carr Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Paula Carr and Patrick Dobard of Baton Rouge, La., Lillian Carr Strauder of Natchez; five sisters, Hattie R. Singleton of Natchez, Lula Stewart and Jessie Washington of New Orleans, Doris Henry of Greenville, Thelma McGraineg of Chicago; two brothers, Charlie L. Given of New Orleans, and Herman Givens of Chicago; three aunts, Amelia Dison and Fannie Jackson of Natchez and Rachel McGraw of Los Angeles; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Albert James Hawkins

Nov. 11, 1958 – Dec. 16, 1999

Services for Albert James Hawkins, 41, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Jackson University Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at West Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Huff officiating.

Burial will be at the Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Mr. Hawkins was born Nov. 11, 1958 in Adams County, the son of Ollie Hawkins and Abe Shelly.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his mother, Ollie Hawkins; two sons, Byron Hunter and Jarmal Hunter; several step-children; a friend, Mary Singleton Hawkins; seven sisters and their husbands, Debra and Eric Williams, Shelia and Johnny Williams, Yolanda Hawkins, Parish and Chris Reynolds, Serletha Hawkins, all of Natchez, Sandra and Darrin Jones of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Remona and Chris Nealey of Fayette, NC; 10 nephews; eight nieces; and a number of other relatives and friends.

William Brown

Nov. 2, 1922 – Dec. 20, 1999

Services for William “Willie” Brown, 77, of Natchez, formerly of Vidalia, La., who died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David McGuffie officiating.

Burial will be at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Meadville, the son of Sebastian Benjamin and Carrie Bell Harvey Brown.

He was a member of Vidalia First Baptist Church, the Natchez Lodge and a Master Mason. He was a disabled veteran of World War II, having been wounded and receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. Brown was a retired book binder for Tom L. Ketchings.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Estelle Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Maxphine Brown of Natchez; two sons, Ronnie and Angie Brown of Natchez and Phillip Brown of Vidalia, La.; six grandchildren; four brothers, Lavern “Preacher” Brown, Buck Brown, Allen Brown, all of Natchez and Jerry Brown of Yazoo City; four sisters, Sara Lee Forbes of Houma, Louise Brashier of Ferriday, Sharon Ledbetter of Iuka and Lorraine Havard of Natchez.

Cora Baroni Dallalio

May 4, 1912 – Dec. 20, 1999

Services for Cora Baroni Dallalio, 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, in Port Gibson, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church with Father John Brock officiating.

Burial will be at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Dallalio was born May 4, 1912, in Mound, La., the daughter of Attilio and Antonia Yoretti Baroni.

She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Palmer of Meadville and Virginia McDaniel of Roxie; four sons, John Dallalio Jr. of West Monroe, Joseph Dallalio of Vidalia, Vick Dallalio and Louis Dallalio, both of Natchez; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Warren, Alice Dunn and Rita Smith, all of Natchez; three brothers, Joe Baroni, Louise Baroni, both of Natchez and George Baroni of Greenville.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
