Boil-water notice lifted

After more than 124 days, state officials lifted a boil-water notice for the Town of Ferriday Wednesday afternoon.
Michael Dowty, an engineer with the Louisiana Office of Public Health in Alexandria, was to deliver the official notice to Mayor Odeal Montgomery Thursday afternoon.
The state issued the notice on Aug. 20 after the town’s water plant kept shutting down which created a situation in which the water could become contaminated.
