With the New Year approaching, law enforcement officials are reminding the public about fireworks laws.
The City of Natchez prohibits the use of fireworks within its limits, but sparklers are permitted.
Natchez Police will try to respond to complaints of fireworks noise over the weekend. &uot;We have to respect other people’s rights too,&uot; Huff said.
Fireworks can also be a fire hazard. People worry that their roofs or yards will catch on fire, Huff added.
The City of Vidalia also does not allow fireworks to be shot off within city limits. &uot;We don’t strictly enforce (the ordinance) unless we get a complaint call,&uot;&160;said Police Chief Billy Hammers.
If someone complains, Vidalia Police will tell the person lighting the fireworks to stop. &uot; It’s hard to tell them little kids they can’t shoot fireworks,&uot; Hammers said.
Adams County does not have any regulations banning the use of the fireworks.
&uot;We really don’t have a big problem with fireworks in the county,&uot; said Chief Deputy Bill McDaniel of the Adams&160;County Sheriff’s Department.
In case of problems, the sheriff’s department can address it as a disturbing the peace violation, he added.
There is an ordinance against shooting fireworks in Ferriday, but the Board of Aldermen suspended the ordinance for New Year’s, said Police Chief Eddie Newman.
