The Viking boys jumped out quick as two straight steals and a dunk by Jarvis Vaughn helped Vidalia to an 8-1 lead.

&uot;We came out hyped up,&uot; Vaughn said. &uot;We wanted to end the year with a bang. We’re playing much better and as long as we keep playing together, we’ll keep on winning.&uot;

Ronald Ellis hit 11 of his 16 points in the opening period as the Vikings led 26-11.

&uot;I didn’t think&160;I would do that well because I hurt my wrist before the holidays and it was bothering me a little bit during warm-ups,&uot; Ellis said.

Vidalia continued to dominate in the second period, pulling ahead 38-16 midway through the quarter before taking a 56-22 halftime advantage.

Vaughn, who led all scores with 25 points, had two dunks inside the last minute, including one at the buzzer. He finished with four on the night.

The Vikings outscored Davidson 12-4 to start the third period, which ended with Vidalia ahead 81-34.

Sanders emptied his bench to start the final period, which saw the Vikings outscored 26-16.

&uot;I was pleased with the regular group, but our last group gave up too many easy baskets,&uot; said Vidalia coach Robert Sanders.

Davidson, 11-3, led 12-11 after one period and 27-21 at halftime.

The Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Vikings 20-7 in the third quarter.

Cymone Marshall led Davidson with 20 points. Myesha Vinson added 17, while Anglia Lee netted 15 and had 25 rebounds.

Vidalia, 11-5, was led by Brendy Ellis with 22 points. Natalie McGraw added 17.

&uot;As long as we can get our fast break going, we do all right,&uot; said Davidson coach Steve McClatchy. &uot;We knew we would have to handle their full court pressure and we did a good enough job of that.&uot;
