Green gets ‘hairstyle of the millennium’

Sunday’s warm weather made it the perfect day to be outside. So David Green took advantage of the day, getting his hair done outside by his neighbor Tasha Mayberry.

Mayberry patiently combed the curls in Green’s mid-length hair before tying it back in two braids. She then tied a bandanna around his forehead and over the top of the braids.

Green jokingly called his new look the &uot;hairstyle of the millennium.&uot;

About two years ago, Green began growing his hair out. &uot;I got tired of having a low hair cut,&uot; he said.

And Green said he kept getting razor bumps on the back of his neck when he had short hair.

Green wants to let his hair grown even longer and hopes he never has to have short hair again.

He said he likes his long hair, even if it is more difficult to style.

The Democrat Dart found Green on King Circle just as Mayberry was beginning to work on Green’s hair.

It took her more than an hour to complete the hairstyle.

Friends Thaddus Mayberry and Sammy Blue hung around and watched the hairstyling. Because of the amount of time involved, Thaddus Mayberry said he never wants long hair like Green’s.

&uot;I don’t have time for all that,&uot; Mayberry said.

The hairstyle will last about two days.

Then, Green plans to have his sister braid his hair so it will be neat the day of his job interview with Titan Tire this week.

Green, who grew up in the Country Club Drive area, went to school at Hinds Community College to study collision repair. Eventually, he wants to move to Texas to get a job in his field.

Overall, Green seemed to enjoy the media attention he got Sunday afternoon.

&uot;It might be the beginning of my modeling career,&uot; he said with a laugh.
