Natchez residents Keith and Carol Dillon got the scare of their lives last week when their three-week-old daughter stopped breathing.
Little Kaitlan Renee Dillon was rushed to Natchez Community Hospital Wednesday after her mother noticed she was turning purple.
Her eyes were bulging and her head was tilted back, Carol said.
&uot;I just grabbed her and turned her upside down,&uot; Carol said. &uot;Even though I had a lot of CPR classes I still panicked.&uot;
After making a frantic call to 911 Carol said she ran to get help from neighbors.
Paramedics soon arrived at the Dillon house, on 2123 Second St., began working over the baby.
&uot;By the time they got here she was starting to breath but not as good as they wanted,&uot; Carol said.
Kaitlan spent two days at the hospital and doctors believe a condition similar to acid reflux may have caused her to stop breathing.
&uot;It was a really scary experience,&uot; Keith said.
Keith was shopping at Wal-Mart Wednesday and returned home to learn what had happened.
When I came back home the neighbors were all in my yard telling me not to panic, but that Carol and the baby had left in the ambulance, Keith said.
&uot;If we don’t have anymore episodes like we had last week, we’ll be doing fine,&uot; he added.
The Democrat’s Dart found the Dillons Sunday afternoon babysitting Kaitlan at their home. Kaitlan, who was born Dec. 30, came home from the hospital Friday. Kaitlan now wears a monitor when she sleeps to track her heart rate and breathing.
The family especially Kaitlan’s 11-year-old brother, Travis Logan, are adjusting to their new baby.
