Evelyn Rogers Gillon
GREENWOOD — Graveside services for Evelyn Rogers Gillon, 81, of Greenwood, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Odd Fellows Cemetery with the Rev. J.G. Babb officiating.
Burial will follow under the directions of Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
She was born in Greenwood and attended school in Minter City and at Delta State University. She was a member of Minter City United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent for many years, and she served on the Minter City School Board. Her family were Leflore County pioneers. She and her husband, William H. Gillon Jr., lived in Minter City until shortly before his death in 1993.
Survivors include one son, Billy Gillon of Natchez; one daughter, Bebe Jones of Tampa, Fla.; one grandson, Hugh Gillon IV of Madison; one granddaughter, Meg Gillon of Natchez; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hal Pleasants Jr., Dudley Pleasants, Jim Bowen, Tommy Sturdivant, Bobby Wells and Allen Mize.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family.
The family request memorials be made to Minter City United Methodist Church or favorite charity.
Lottie J. Boykin
Dec. 7, 1928 — Jan. 27, 2000
Services for Lottie J. Boykin, 78, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mitchell Cochran and Elton Brown officiating.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boykin was born Dec. 7, 1928 in Silas, Ala., the daughter of James A. and Bertha Page Jackson.
She was a member of Lovely Lane Methodist Church since 1965. She was a retired employee of Medical Arts Pharmacy after 17 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Grady E. Boykin of Natchez; one son, Grady Boykin Jr. of Natchez; two sisters, Minnie Olive Culpepper of Houston, Texas, and Dorothy Jenkins of Cotton Valley, La.; one brother, Leo Jackson of Mobile, Ala.; one granddaughter, Lacy Leigh Boykin of Vidalia, La.; one grandson, Michael Thomas Boykin of Vidalia; and two godchildren, Jill Gunnell Guidry of Lafayette, La., and Benjamin Pickett of New Orleans.
Pallbearers will be J.B. Whitehead, Jim Cotten, Ernest Barlow, Richard Sadler, George Sellers Jr., Benjamin Pickett and Dale Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Boykin, Chris Sellers, Brad Sellers and members of the Men’s Club of Lovely Lane Methodist Church.
Eddie Lee Johnson
Jan. 21, 1924 — Jan. 27, 2000
LORMAN — Graveside services for Eddie Lee Johnson, 76, of Port Gibson, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Carbondale Cemetery.
Burial will follow under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.
Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Claiborne County, the son of Sylvester Johnson Sr. and Annie Sims Johnson.
He was a retired self-employed barber.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and seven sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Thomas Johnson; a brother, Fredrick Johnson Sr. of Port Gibson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends and relatives of the family.
