Alcorn picks up SWAC win

LORMAN — Alcorn State senior forward Brian Adams scored 19 points to lead the Braves to an 85-73 victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday night.
Corey Magnum came off the bench to score 16 points for the Braves.
Fayette’s and Marcus Fleming and Terrance Cameron of Port Gibson each scored 15 points in the Brave’s (13-9, 10-3, SWAC) 23rd concurrent home court win before more than 4,500 fans.
Cameron, Walter Harper and Adams had five rebounds each to lead the Braves.
Patrick Chambers scored 21 points for the Golden Lions (4-17, 3-9), followed by Jeremy Jefferson with 17 points, four assists and four rebounds.
Alcorn State was ahead of struggling Arkansas-Pine Bluff 41-31 at halftime.
The Braves scored 20 of their points off of Golden Lion turnovers.
Alcorn freshman guard J.T. West hit a 3-pointer in his only field goal attempt of the night to finish with three points.
West played two minutes in the contest.
The Alcorn bench tallied 43 points on the night, with 26 coming in the second half.
Alcorn’s Lady Braves defeated UAPB 76-46 to improve to 14-7 overall and 9-2 in the SWAC.
Chersa Wood led the Lady Braves with 20 points, while Daisha Reed and Kimberly Mitchell added 13 points each.
Alcorn plays at Alabama State Saturday before going to Alabama A&M on Monday.
