Everybody remembers the ride to grandmother’s house on Sunday afternoons.

This Sunday, a car full of cousins came to see their grandmother, Joyce Floyd on Winston Hill Street in Natchez.

The quiet alley provides a perfect playground for the active children.

One group of four girl cousins are very close in age and say they are constantly together on weekends. They readily admit that they are more like sisters than cousins.

Venisha Noble, 10, is the oldest and pretty much the &uot;leader of the pack&uot; of four.

&uot;Venisha is the oldest and the wildest,&uot; said 16-year-old cousin Felicia Coach, who sometimes watches the girls on weekends.

The other girls are Shawnette Noble, 10, Shylinda Noble, 8, and Danielle Minor, 7.

Another cousin, Travis Noble, 14, also comes over to his grandmother’s house, but he is too old for the bike riding and outdoor games of the girls.

&uot;I like talking on the phone,&uot; said the Natchez Middle School 7th grader.

At his young age, he said he already has girlfriends and it is usually those girlfriends who are on the phone.

As for the young girls, they enjoy what many cousins do – riding bikes together, playing games like Hide and Seek, Simon Says, Freeze Tag, and now Super Nintendo.

But one of the favorite advantages of Sunday’s at grandmother’s house is her cooking.

&uot; She’s cooking greens today!&uot; chimed in Venisha Noble.

While Minor is a 1st grader at West Primary School, the other three girls attend McLaurin Elementary School.

Venisha and Shawnette are in 4th grade and Shylinda is in 3rd grade.

Shylinda enjoys spelling and has been in a spelling bee or two already.

&uot;I did good till I got to the word ‘macaroni,’&uot; she said.

All the girls admit that their favorite television show right now is Nickelodeon’s &uot;Double Dare 2000&uot; in which contestants get messy from head to foot in studio obstacle courses.

But for now, the smell of greens cooking in the house is calling them.
