Employees of Titan Tire of Natchez were evacuated from the plant Monday morning after a bomb threat was called in to the plant.

The caller, who had not been identified by Natchez police as of late Monday afternoon, called the plant and said a bomb planted there would go off in 15 minutes, but no explosion followed.

Employees were evacuated from the building, although about a dozen of the workers were standing just outside the plant. Three Natchez fire trucks and several Natchez police and Adams County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene.

Police Chief Willie Huff said that the search for a bomb would have been conducted by plant security. He did not know whether such a sweep had been conducted.

Plant Manager Dave Fines would only say that if the caller is found, the plant will push for him or her to be &uot;prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.&uot;
