Chad Lipscomb has been named head coach of the Adams County Christian School baseball team after Ryan Porter was relieved of his duties by AC principal Rufus Carlock.
Porter will continue to teach at the school.
Carlock did not want to comment on the firing, saying it was a personnel decision. He did say the release of Porter as baseball coach was a result of more than one incident.
Porter was not available for comment.
Porter graduated from Jackson Academy before spending a year as an assistant coach in football, basketball and baseball at Jackson Prep.
Porter also helped with the ACCS&160;junior high football team.
Porter graduated from Delta State, where he played baseball.
Lipscomb graduated from Cathedral in 1994 and played baseball for Delta State. He has been assistant baseball coach and junior high football coach for the past two years at ACCS.
&uot;I’m glad I’ve got a head coaching job, but I certainly didn’t want to get it like that,&uot; Lipscomb said. &uot;It’s hard because Ryan is a good friend of mine. But I think it’s best for me to take in than someone else come in. I’m looking at is as an opportunity.&uot;
Lipscomb will have Clark Jackson as an assistant coach at home games.
&uot;Away games are up in the air right now,&uot; Lipscomb said. &uot;But everything will work out and it will all be OK.&uot;
