UMB team wins Chamber golf tourney

Bill Byrne, Chris Hutchins, Randy Johnson and Adrian Stallone, representing United Mississippi Bank, shot a 55 to win the Natchez Chamber of Commerce Fun Golf Scramble Thursday at Beau Pre Country Club.
Bennie Bell, Elmo Irby, Joe McKnight and Ross Partridge came in second place with a 58.
Jeff Bairnsfather, Ben Broyer, Randy Knapp and Eddie Waltman also shot a 58, but came in third place because of a bogey on the ninth hole.
Partridge, the tournament director, was proud of the turnout, the sponsors and the nice weather for this year’s event.
&uot;It was a great turnout,&uot; Partridge said. &uot;We played 96 players, which is 24 teams. The weather was absolutely perfect.
&uot;We had eight business-after-hours sponsors and 18 hole sponsors. We appreciate the sponsorships.&uot;
The annual tournament is the only fund-raiser the Chamber of Commerce holds during the year.
Partridge also praised Beau Pre and the people who work there, including golf pro Mark Powell.
&uot;Playing at Beau Pre has added significantly to the tournament,&uot; he said. &uot;Mark Powell and his staff have done an excellent job.&uot;
There were also eight individual awards given out after the tournament was over.
The longest putt at hole No.1 went to Chad Huber.
The longest drive awards went to Hutchins and Linda Gardner.
Four golfers won awards for being closest to the hole – Jonathan Holly and Dee Horton (No. 4), Raymond Gill (No. 13) and Phil Hale (No. 16).
The closest to the line award went to Billy Stewart (hole No. 12).
There were two hole-in-ones on the sixteenth hole, also known as the &uot;Gone Fishing Hole.&uot;
The award for missing the green on the 13th hole went to Scott Kimbrell, Jr.
