Trinity Episcopal picked up a win in its first game of the year, while Adams County Christian School dropped its first contest in eight outings Friday.
Trinity defeated Pine Hills 10-2 in Gloster in a district contest as Sarah Kirby collected a home run and added two triples.
Sara Greer added three singles, while Haley Hinton, Amber Huff and Jessica Tannehill had two singles each.
Huff picked up the win for the 1-0 Lady Saints.
&uot;It looked like our first game of the year,&uot; said Trinity assistant coach Rick Kirby. &uot;It took a little while for us to start hitting the ball. You could tell some of the girls were nervous, especially the younger ones.&uot;
Parklane scored five runs in the seventh inning to hand the Lady Rebels their first loss of the year at ACCS’ new softball park.
&uot;We just made too many errors,&uot;&160;said AC head coach Bruce Pickle. We had three in one inning.&uot;
Holli Hankins led the Lady Rebels with a double and two singles, but AC&160;managed to collect only five more singles.
&uot;We didn’t get the hits when we needed them,&uot; Pickle said. &uot;There were a couple of innings where we didn’t get it out of the infield. But we’ll work through it. We’re going to get better. The girls just have to decide to work harder.
&uot;We really haven’t had a chance to work on our defense because the field is not completely ready,&uot; Pickle said. &uot;But we’ll be able to work more in the next couple of weeks.&uot;
Charmaine Reagan was tagged with the loss for the Lady Rebels.
Parklane defeated ACCS for the Class 3A/4A state championship last year.
Trinity hosts Huntington today at 2 p.m., while ACCS&160;visits Bowling Green Monday.
