Cathedral falls to Franklin

Franklin County High pitchers Tyler Williamson and Colby Beach held Cathedral to three hits, while Chad Johnson hit two home runs for the Bulldogs as the Meadville team defeated the Green Wave 9-2 at Franklin County.

&uot;We just didn’t hit the ball at all,&uot; said Cathedral coach Ken Beesley. &uot;Our first two batters walked in the first inning, then our No. 3, 4 and 5 hitters swing at the first pitch and pop it up and we don’t get anything out of it. We’re not patient enough.&uot;

Franklin County scored three runs in the first and second innings and added two in the sixth.

Cathedral scored one run each in the fourth and fifth inning.

Collecting singles for Cathedral were Jeremi Hardi, Casey Rodgers and Charlie Norris.

Six Green Wave batters reached on walks.

&uot;We stranded too many runners on base,&uot; Beesley said. &uot;We had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth and only got one run out of it.&uot;

Meng 1-hits Franklin

Elliot Meng held Franklin Academy to one hit as Trinity defeated the Winnsboro, La., team 8-2 at Franklin.

Meng helped himself offensively with a home run and double.

Walt Ketchings homered and singled.

Cole Brown and Hunter Dale also doubled.

Hounds win over WCCA

Kenneth Clayton doubled and singled to lead Huntington to an 8-7 win over WCCA Saturday at Huntington.

Steve Hinton started the game, but was hit by a pitch in the back of the neck and taken to the hospital.

Hinton was released and resting comfortably Saturday night.

Trey Mason, who struck out 12 in a 21-1 win over Briarfield Friday, got the win.
