Amanda Stricklin pitched a no-hitter and Heather Miller hit an RBI single in the third inning which proved to be the difference as Vidalia High’s softball team defeated Block 1-0 Monday in Jonesville.

Stricklin struck out four and walked two for the win and went 1-for-3 with a double.

Vidalia’s only run came in the top of the third. Jaci DeWeese hit a one-out single, moved to third on a Jessica Marling single and scored on Miller’s single.

Miller went 2-for-4 with two singles in the game.

Two straight Vidalia errors and a walk gave Block a chance to at least tie the game with the bases loaded and two outs.

However, Stricklin got Kristen White to hit in a ground ball to Marling, Vidalia’s shortstop, who threw to second baseman Maggie Dungan for the force out.

Morgan McMillin took the loss for Block.

The win guaranteed at least a share of the District 3-2A title for the Lady Vikings (21-2, 5-0).

Vidalia hosts a make-up game against Crowville in Vidalia Wednesday at 4 p.m. that will decide the district champion.

The March 23 game between the two teams was rained out with the score tied at 0-0 and two outs in the top of the sixth inning, which is where Wednesday’s game will pick up.

The Lady Vikings will either win the title outright with a win or share the title with Crowville with a loss.
