Concordia Bank & Trust Co. may be planning a new branch for Natchez. Concordia&160;Bank finalized plans Friday to purchase a Seargent S. Prentiss Drive property that includes a building leased by La Fiesta Granda Restaurante Mexicano.
&uot;(The restaurant is) going to be torn down, and they are going to build a new bank there,&uot;&160;said Dianne Brown of Coldwell Banker Brown and Company Realtors Inc.
Concordia Bank President Pat Biglane could not be reached for comment Tuesday, but recently he explained the bank’s reasons for expanding from Louisiana to another Mississippi town. &uot;When we bought the bank in Woodville ( in May 1999) we wanted to help our customers out in Mississippi and be a bank for the Miss-Lou area.&uot;
At the time Biglane would not comment further on possible negotiations to buy property in Natchez.
Ignacio Nunez, a manager of LaFiesta Granda, confirmed Tuesday the restaurant is working on plans to move to the Old Western Sizzlin building, located near Kmart on John R. Junkin Drive.
&uot;We wish to stay (on Seargent S. Prentiss&160;&160;Drive) but we have to move,&uot; Nunez said.
The 3.56 acre property on 45 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive, includes the Prentiss Inn but does not include a two-story hotel to the right of the site. The bank purchased the property from Priya Inc., an Alabama&160;Corporation operated by Ashokkumar Patel and Dashrath K. Patel. The company also owns the adjacent hotel property.
Brown said her real estate office is helping the LaFiesta group secure a new site.
