Ward 2 Alderman George “Shake” Harden, who was defeated in Tuesday’s primary election by James “Ricky” Gray, has asked to review the ballots, said City Clerk Frances Trosclair.
“I am in the process of going over the voter ballots, the voter rolls and the ballot boxes with a fine-toothed comb,” Harden said. “I have been advised by legal counsel to limit any comments to the press.”
Trosclair said Harden asked Wednesday to examine the ballots when they had been certified. She said Harden can review them today with her and Gray present.
Gray got 550 votes to Harden’s 432 in Democratic primary voting Tuesday.
Gray’s only comment was that it is Harden’s “right to look at the ballots.”
Harden could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
