Huntington needs two coaches

FERRIDAY, La. — Huntington High is in the process of interviewing for both football and basketball coaches.
Longtime Huntington coach Greg Weatherly, who was also named athletic director at the school last year, has turned in his resignation.
Hound football coach Jay Murphree is also leaving Huntington after two years as Hound football and track coach.
Weatherly, a South Natchez graduate, spent eight years at Huntington, coaching football, basketball, softball and baseball.
&uot;I’m just trying to get into a better financial situation,&uot; said Weatherly, who has interviewed with Aberdeen High School and Ocean Springs High School for a couple of coaching positions. &uot;I have enjoyed my time here. I like the school and the people in the town. It’s just time to make a move.&uot;
Huntington High headmaster Russ Green said Murphree has interviewed at several schools.
Green has been busy himself, interviewing several prospects.
Former Adams County Christian School athlete Matt Mason was interviewed in Ferriday Saturday, while former Huntington and Monterey coach Paul Glynn has also been interviewed.
&uot;Both are fine young men,&uot;&160;Green said. &uot;We would feel lucky to get both of them. The jobs are going to be great opportunities for somebody.
&uot;We are going to be strong in football. We have the whole line coming back and a lot of speed in the backfield.&uot;
Green said he hopes to announce the hirings soon.
