Pierre le Moyne, Sieur d’Iberville, portrayed by Edmond Boudreaux at right, takes a puff from a peace pipe Saturday at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians during a reenactment of the French military’s first encounter with the Natchez. GrayHawk, from Lacombe, La., portrayed the Natchez’s leader, Great Sun. The event marked the 300th anniversary that the two met. The Tricentennial Reenactment, which includes reenactors dressed in period costume, craft demonstrations and cannon and weapons demonstrations, will continue today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. An encore of the Iberville reenactment will be at 1 p.m. today at the Grand Village on Jefferson Davis Boulevard.
