Former Adams County Chrisitan School and Copiah-Lincoln Community College softball standout Kit Brashier has decided that it’s time to call it quits.

&uot;It’s kind of sad to see it go like this, but I finished my career on a high note, and that’s the most important thing to me — that I&160;went out on my own terms,&uot;&160;she said.

Brashier graduated in 1998 after a stellar career at ACCS, Brashier signed on to play softball at Co-Lin, where she recently pulled down All-Region and All-American honors in her final year with the Lady Wolfpack.

Brashier began playing softball at six years old at the T-Ball level.

&uot;My daddy really got me interested in softball at a young age.

&uot;We would just go out in the yard everyday and play softball all day long.

&uot;I&160;had a lot of fun over the years, but all good things have to end somewhere,&uot;&160;Brashier said.

Brashier, who played catcher for Co-Lin, said once she received the news about garnering the two prestigious awards, she was ecstatic.

&uot;It made my day. And it made all the hard work in the classroom and on the field seem worthwhile,&uot; she said.

Co-Lin finished in second place at this year’s state tournament and in second place at the Regionals.

&uot;We played real well as a team late in the year, and I&160;think that may be part of the reason why I got both of the awards,&uot; she said.

Brashier, who will attend Alcorn School of Nursing in Natchez next fall, said that while she enjoys playing softball and would not mind continuing to play, she knows it’s time to let it go.

Brashier finished this year at Co-Lin with a .593 batting average.

&uot;I had a good year this year, but I&160;couldn’t have done it without Tammy (Case, Co-Lin head coach),&uot;&160;she said.

Brashier said that while she will no longer be playing softball competitively anymore, she will still be a part of the game she loves.

&uot;I work at the concession stand at the softball field. I used to umpire, but now I just work the stand. I just love being around the kids.&uot;
