Godley’s Clinic and United Mississippi Bank were on their way to a low-scoring duel going into the second inning Tuesday at Joe Frazier Field.

By the end of the inning they were on their way to their cars – in a hurry.

United Mississippi Bank led Godley’s Clinic 2-1 in the top of the second inning in a T.M. Jennings 11-12 year-old contest before heavy rains came whipping through the areas,forcing players into their dugouts and eventually back to their homes.

&uot;This is nothing new,&uot; said Godley’s coach Noami Hayes. &uot;We’ve missed a lot of games because of bad weather.&uot;

Hayes said the game will be continued at a later date.

Godley’s Clinic scored one run after Sam Singleton singled and scored later on a wild pitch.

United Mississippi Bank scored two runs as Anthony Barnes was walked with the bases loaded and David Davis scored on a wild pitch.

&uot;We started out kind of sluggish, but I think the weather had something to do with that,&uot; Hayes said. &uot;It’s always a good game when we get together.&uot;

The 11-12 league will end its season next week.

The all-star teams will be announced at the end of the season.

Natchez will host a district tournament on July 7-9.
