Timmy Foster pitched a complete-game no-hitter and Wesley Davis had a three-run triple to help lead the Natchez Wallace League All-Stars to a 10-0 win over the Natchez Ace Adams League All-Stars Friday to win the Dixie Youth 11-12 All-Star City Championship at Carroll-Jones Field.
Foster struck out 10 of the 12 batters he faced in four innings for the win.
&uot;I told the boys that was the first time they’ve seen someone pitch a perfect game,&uot; said Natchez Wallace head coach David New, Jr. about Foster’s performance. &uot;I know that’s the first time I’ve coached a boy that’s pitched a perfect game.&uot;
&uot;I felt good when I started out in the first inning,&uot; Foster said. &uot;I had my fastball and curveball working for me. I also have a slider, but I didn’t throw it tonight. I was surprised I struck out 10 batters.&uot;
Ace Adams pitcher Tony Godbold lasted a third of an inning on the mound and was replaced by Mark Hamlin with the bases loaded. Godbold took the loss and was charged for the first three runs that scored in the first.
Hamlin allowed seven runs (two earned) and four hits, struck out one and walked seven in 3 2/3 innings. Corey Walker then drew a walk to score New. With two out, Davis tripled to score Maher, Foster and Walker for a 4-0 lead.
&uot;I had two strikes on me,&uot; Davis said. &uot;I had an outside pitch and I hit it.&uot;
Natchez Wallace will face Franklin County next Friday at 6 p.m. followed by Natchez Ace Adams against Claiborne County in the Sub-District Tournament at Carroll-Jones Field.
