The Natchez Democrat begins publication of zoned editions today.
The two daily editions include a Mississippi edition, tailored to meet the news and interests of readers in Natchez, Adams County and the Southwest Mississippi region, and a Louisiana edition, tailored to meet the needs and interests of readers in Concordia and surrounding parishes.
&uot;We’re excited about the opportunity this gives us to provide more to our readers, including more news about their communities and states,&uot; said Stacy Graning, Democrat editor, who added the move is a response to reader suggestions over a period of years.
Both editions will share much in common, from obituary listings and Tracings information to the editorial page to coverage of national, international and other issues. Readers of both editions will receive Style and Business information; the Clicker, a weekly television guide; the same classified advertising sections; and the same special sections and packages.
&uot;Of course, the critically important local news remains in both editions,&uot; Graning said. &uot;We’re simply giving readers on each side of the Mississippi River more of what they’re interested in.&uot;
