Parnham, Kirby lead All-Metro team

Vidalia High head coach Gary Paul Parnham and Trinity Episcopal senior shortstop Sarah Kirby lead the 2000 Natchez Democrat All-Metro Softball Team.
Parnham led his team to a 24-3 record and the playoff
Kirby batted .722 for the Lady Saints, who won South A State before finishing third at state.
Joining Kirby on the team, which is selected by The Democrat’s sports department from teams who regularly called in games during the season, are Lady Saint teammates Sara Greer and Haley Hinton. Greer, a junior outfielder, batted .541. Hinton, a senior outfielder, hit .507.
Natchez High is represented by Christal Sylvester, Kelly Fuller and DeLisa Lewis. Sylvester batted .613. Fuller hit .636 for the Lady Bulldogs, while Lewis batted .595.
Adams County Christian School landed senior Laurie Ann Davis, senior Neely Ward, junior Holly Hankins and junior Charmaine Reagan on the team.
Reagan pitched for the Lady Rebels and hit .538. Davis, who signed a basketball scholarship with Copiah-Lincoln, hit .547 as a shortstop.
Cathedral High is represented by junior infielder Krystal Groom and senior infielder Hester Rose Brown.
Named to the team from Vidalia are senior infielder Jessica Marling, junior pitcher Amanda Stricklin, freshman outfielder Heather Miller and senior infielder Maggie Dungan.
Marling batted .446 with a .676 slugging percentage. She also had two home runs.
Miller his .418 with a team high 38 hits.
Dungan batted .384 with a team high 36 runs batted in.
Stricklin was 23-3 on the season, striking out 87 over 149 innings with a 1.74 earned run average.
Huntington Lady Hounds named to the team are outfielder Tessa Taunton, outfieldre Tiffany Ferguson and outfielder Lindsay Wagoner.
Taunton batted .576 on the season.
Ferguson hit .500 and covered the field from her rover position.
Wagoner led the Lady Hounds with a .595 average.
Named to the team from Franklin County are senior pitcher Mandy McGehee and senior infielder Janet Chapman.
McGehee batted .326 with four doubles.
McGehee was 21-8 wth 223 strikeouts over 169 innings. She had a 1.51 earned run average and batted .309.
Named as honorable mentions from Trinity are senior pitcher Amber Huff, junior third baseman Jessica Tanneyhill and sophomore first baseman Ashley Kingsafer.
ACCS&160;honorable mentions are Alisha Brown and April Boyd.
Honorable mentions from Cathedral are Carol Savant and Betsi McGraw.
Vidalia honorable mentions are infielder Jenny Watson, catcher Stephanie Elliot and infielder Miranda Doughty.
Huntington honorable mentions are outfielder Sylvia Moak and shortstop Lauren Wagoner.
Franklin County honorable mentions are Jenny Chapman and Christy Day.
