Now it’s all in the family.

Ken Beesley Jr., will join father Ken and brother Craig as a coach at Cathedral High.

Ken Jr., who graduated from Cathedral in 1987, will be an assistant coach of the Green Wave boys football team.

Cathedral is also looking for a boys basketball coach, and if one is not found, Beesley will take over that position.

Mike Durr gave up those duties before the start of last year to coach the junior high boys. Bill Cameron replaced Durr, but died of a heart attack last December.

Cathedral assistant football coach Terry Moffett finished the season as basketball coach. Moffett resigned at Cathedral to take a job teaching at Franklin County High.

Beesley has worked as an accountant since graduating from Delta State in 1991.

After stints at Kennedy, Hicks and Serafin; Gillon and Company; Potter Garcia Management Group and Edgin Construction, Beesley decided to take up coaching and teaching.

&uot;I’ve been thinking about it since Craig went over to Cathedral (from Natchez High) and started coaching with Dad (six years ago),&uot; Ken said. &uot;I just decided if I didn’t try it I would always wonder whether I would like it or not. The school needed somebody and this was the perfect time to try it.&uot;

Beesley will teach chemistry and physics. He is currently attending Copiah-Lincoln Community College-Natchez and Alcorn State-Natchez.

&uot;In three or four years I will get all the education courses I need to pass all of my tests and get my certification,&uot; he said.

Beesley played football, basketball and baseball at Cathedral.

Beesley said he is also excited about teaching.

&uot;In teaching you feel like you help somebody,&uot; he said. &uot;You see the results of your work. You don’t get that sense of accomplishment in accounting.&uot;

Beesley admitted it was tough watching his father and brother coach.

&uot;I&160;haven’t been to a baseball or basketball game in three years,&uot; he said. &uot;Every time I would go to a game I would want to be out there. I would still go to football games. I couldn’t handle the basketball or baseball.&uot;

Cathedral principal Scott Fleming said Beesley is a great addition to the staff.

Beesley will teach physics and chemistry.

Fleming said Beesley may also assume other coaching duties.

&uot;Ken will lend some stability to our program,&uot;&160;Fleming said. &uot;He is a person with much character and will take our program forward so we will be able to go to the next level.&uot;

Fleming said he is not bothered by Beesley’s lack of coaching experience.

&uot;Ken is a great person who comes from a great family and graduated from here,&uot; he said. &uot;The combination of those three makes him a good choice.&uot;
