Kyle Ketchings found a nice change of pace this week for his new hobby – bowling.

Ketchings was one of 34 children attending the 12th Annual Rivergate Bowling Alley Camp at Rivergate Bowl.

&uot;I&160;just thought it would be a fun thing to do during the day,&uot;&160;Ketchings, 10, said of the camp, which he said is a nice change from his normal routine. &uot;It’s better than I&160;thought it would be because I’ve made a lot of friends since I’ve been here.&uot;

&uot;The kids are having a ball,&uot; said camp director Anne Hash.

Hash said the number of children who showed up this year was fair.

&uot;We’ve had anywhere from 20 to 60 kids show up in any given year, so this year we’ve got 34, and that’s a fair number,&uot; Hash said. &uot;But when they’re having as much fun as they are, it seems like there is 100 kids in here.&uot;&160;

Hash said a significant number of children who showed up this year have participated in previous camps.

&uot;We’ve got some who’ve been here for years, we’ve even got one (Sadie Saunders) whose been here so long and liked it so much that she’s joined a league,&uot; she said.

Jeremy Greene, an eighth-grader from Vidalia, said he has been coming for four years now.

&uot;It’s just fun for me,&uot; Greene said. &uot;I&160;just love to bowl. I just love everything about it.&uot;

The same rings true for both Jon-Michael Cowan and Michelle Yearick.

Both have been to the camp twice.

&uot;I&160;like bowling a lot,&uot; said Cowan 6. &uot;Mrs. Anne teaches us a lot, and she makes it easy to learn.&uot;&160;

Yearick, who attends Huntington High School, said she enjoys the purity of the game.

&uot;I&160;enjoy just coming to bowl,&uot;&160;the 14-year-old said. &uot;I&160;don’t do anything fancy or anything like that. I&160;just like coming out and bowling.&uot;

&uot;We just try to teach the basics on the first day or two, then we move into the upper level aspects of the game,&uot;&160;Hash said.
