Natchez Wallace captures District 6 Tournament title

GLOSTER -&160;It took a little longer than expected, but the Natchez Wallace 11-12 All-Stars defeated Pine Hills 7-2 in a rain-delayed contest.
Heavy rains before the game pushed the 7 p.m. starting time to 8:25 p.m.
With the win, Natchez advances to the state tournament in Laurel beginning July 29. Corey Walker pitched five innings, allowing no hits and striking out 12. Timmy Foster kept the host team hitless.
Natchez Wallace’s Cole Bradford led off the contest with a home run.
In the third, Austin Weeks walked, Scott Pollard hit into a fielder’s choice and Bradford singled.
The Wallace League scored four runs in the fourth inning as Benji Maher walked, Stevan Ridley singled and Wesley Davis followed with a base hit. Lane Baroni walked and Walker delivered a three-run double. Singles by Jeremy Ellis and Pollard and a sacrifice fly by Bradford scored the final run.
