&uot;It’s been an ongoing investigation,&uot; said Maj. Chuck Mayfield, of Natchez-Adams Metro Narcotics. &uot;Last night was just a culmination of that investigation.&uot;

In March, police closed the Action Game Room and Carwash on Franklin Street after they found drugs at that location. Johnson was leasing and operating the business, but no arrests were made at that time.

Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff said he became involved with the case because his department received calls about drug activity at the business.

In addition to the drugs, officers also seized $660 in cash and various packaging items drug dealers use to prepare drugs for sale, Mayfield said.

The crack cocaine seized at the apartment has a street value of $8,720 and the marijuana has a street value of $500, according to police.

If convicted, Johnson could face 20 to 60 years in jail for the cocaine charges and up to 40 years for the marijuana charges.

Thursday’s search marks the second large drug seizure by local officers in the past five weeks.

In June, officers arrested Adrian Van Dixon, 30, No. 9 North Circle Drive, was arrested after officers seized 33 grams of cocaine in a bedroom of the residence.

&uot;That two pretty large seizures (within that time-period).&uot; Huff said. &uot;It shows we cannot relax our drug investigations.&uot;

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department was holding Johnson without bond Thursday pending arraignment.
