Sometime in the early morning hours Friday, burglars entered the Fourth Street Church of Christ and stole almost $1,000 worth of speaker parts.
&uot;It looks like they took their own time and unscrewed the speakers and took their parts,&uot; Windell Greene, the congregation’s preacher, said.
Greene said he suspects the burglars were either too young to carry the heavy speaker casings or just wanted the parts to build their own speakers.
&uot;It wasn’t just vandalism,&uot; Greene said of the speaker casings left scattered on the church building’s floor.
Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff said there were no signs of forced entry and there are no suspects at this time.
Huff also encouraged anyone with information on the burglary to report it to Crimestoppers for a reward.
Friday’s burglary is one of several over the last 20 years, Greene said.
