WESSON — It was a tale of two quarters for Adams County Christian School Saturday as the Rebels travelled to the Copiah Academy Jamboree. In two separate 15-minute scrimmages, ACCS downed Wayne Academy 19-0 before losing to Prentiss Christian Academy 0-12.

Turnovers played a significant role in the Rebels victory, with the defense recovering three fumbles and intercepting one pass.

Cornerback Russ Marks scooped up one fumble and ran 30 yards for a score.

Marks’ little brother, linebacker Jake Marks, also recovered a fumble, as did defensive tackle Adams Skates.

The Rebel’s lone interception of the quarter was courtesy of Lee Watts.

Watts took advantage of the turnovers while playing wide receiver on offense, hauling in a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ty Smith.

ACCA’s final score was on a 1-yard run by Jason Rollins.

The Rebels defense continued to force turnovers in the loss to Prentiss Christian, but a strong running game and Prentiss Christian’s subsequent domination of the clock was too much for ACCA.

Watts picked off another pass, and Skates recovered another fumble in the loss.

Smith was the primary quarterback in both scrimmages, finishing the night 6-for-12 with 95 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.

Rollins lead the team in rushing, earning 34 yards on nine carries, though he fumbled once in the second scrimmage.

A sack three plays later caused a Prentiss Christian fumble that gave the Rebels the ball back.
